How To Create a Zap

Select a Trigger

Now that you have opened the Zap creator first you need to set up your trigger. Search the list of apps for ServiceReef (1.). After you select it (2.) you'll get to choose a trigger event from the drop-down (3.). ServiceReef has 15 triggers of member activity within the platform. Each of these can be used to activate some action on another platform. Choose one and click on "Continue".

In this example we have selected "Account Created" as a desired trigger. This is a good place to start your new Zapier experience.

Next you will authorize your ServiceReef account (if you haven't done so already on the "My Apps" page in Zapier) by selecting it from the drop-down (1. choose, 2. search, 3. select) to establish the connection. Zapier will open a window where you will be prompted to sign in to your ServiceReef account and grant Zapier access to your ServiceReef account. If you have already set that up, simple drop-down selection will be enough. When you're done click "Continue".

Before going to the next step of the Zap creation, Zapier lets you test your trigger (1.) to check if connection with ServiceReef works and the trigger is set up correctly.

In addition to checking if connection works and the trigger is set up correctly, you can see if all data that will be pulled to another platform is correct and as expected. If the test was successful you can click on "Continue".

Choose an Action

Now that you have selected the ServiceReef Trigger your next step is to select which other platform you want to be sending these data points to (1.). In this example we are transferring data from ServiceReef to Mailchimp (2.).

We want to "Add a Subscriber" (1.) to our Mailchimp Audience - this is the Action we will take with new ServiceReef member information. "Continue" to the next step.

Sign in to your (in this case Mailchimp) account or choose it from the drop-down if you have already signed in (1.), to make a connection.

Next you connect the specific pieces of information from ServiceReef to the system (Mailchimp in this case).  Some fields will allow you to select an option from your account in Mailchimp - like the "Audience" you want to add the contact to.

Other fields you will populate with data from ServiceReef. 

Click on each field (or just ones that are required and those you intend to use) to search for data from your trigger in ServiceReef (1., 2. field selection, 3., 5., 6. data point selection.).

Here's an interesting example of what you can do:

You can tag individuals within Mailchimp with your custom tags (4.), so you could create a new one that will correspond to the trigger from your Zap. It can be something simple and straightforward like "ServiceReef" to know where this person came from. In this example (previous image) it's just a "Member" tag.

Before you're done with creating your Zap, Zapier will let you test each of the connections and display a success message to signal that your Zap was set up correctly and will work as planned. Click on "Test & Review" (1.).

If your final test was successful you can now "Turn on Zap" to complete the process.

Save Your Zap

Congratulations, you have successfully created your fully functional Zap!

Your Zap is now On and you'll start having Zapier perform your automated action any time a new event is triggered in ServiceReef.

If you haven't done that already, this will also be a good time to name your Zap (1.) because we are sure it will be one of many.

Filters 

One more thing that is important to know is that Zapier allows for multi-step actions. The Filter step (1.) creates a logic of "only continue if...". You can compare any field from the Trigger to determine if this Zap should continue (2., 3., 4.).

Result

Our new Zap is already in action and new ServiceReef members are starting to fill the Mailchimp Audience. Triggered by a new account created, a member's email, with his first and last name, and a custom tag, is added to the contacts list.
