Stories - Mobile App

Stories are a community engagement feature currently existing on the ServiceReef web app, and with this initiative, Stories have now been made available on the mobile app as well. We have introduced a new option in the main navigation for users to easily access on stories on the mobile app.

Additionally, we have created a dedicated screen that lists all stories and includes a feature for users to create new stories (and associate them with an Opportunity they are registered for, if they choose). Users can also create stories from an Opportunity’s details page, which will automatically associate the Opportunity to their story. This enhancement aims to increase user engagement within the app, as users share, comment on, and link stories to opportunities. Stories are also prominently featured on the home screen.

List Stories

We have enhanced the main navigation by adding a new tab labeled "Stories," enabling users to view stories related to the organization.

As a user, by clicking on Stories you will be taken to the stories listing page. Each story card contains:

  • Story Image: A visual representation or thumbnail for the story.
  • Story Title: The title of the story.
  • Author: The name of the person who posted the story.
  • Opportunity (if applicable): The related opportunity.
  • Date Posted: The date when the story was posted.
  • Snippet from Story Text: A brief excerpt from the story to give users a preview of the content.

Users can tap on any story from the list to view the full story details.

Story Details

A Story’s details screen is accessed by tapping the story card from the Story List page. The story details screen displays a set of story features:

  • Story Images
  • Story Title
  • Author
  • Date Posted
  • Story Text
  • Opportunity (if applicable): Displays the related opportunity, if any.
    • Tap to View Opportunity: Allows users to tap and view more details about the related opportunity.
  • Similar Stories:
    • Show Up to 3 Other Stories: Displays up to three other stories that are similar to the current story, providing additional related content for the user to explore.
  • Comments Section:
    • Post a Comment: Enables users to engage by posting their own comments on the story.

Clicking the arrow in the upper left corner will take the user back to the previous screen. Clicking the three dots icon in the upper right corner will open a new dialog. The options in this dialog will vary depending on whether the user is the story's author or not.

For example, if the user is the author, they will see options to share, delete the story or cancel the action. If the user is not the author, they will have options to share, flag, block the story, or block the author.

Opportunity Stories

To increase user engagement, we have also made related story cards visible on the Opportunity details page.

  • Related Stories:
    • List of the 3 most recent stories: We have displayed the three most recent stories associated with this opportunity directly on the Opportunity Details page.
    • See All button: We have included a button that navigates to the Stories page, displaying all stories related to this opportunity for users who want to explore further.
  • Share a Story:

We have provided a button for users to share their own stories, visible only to approved participants of the opportunity.

Home Screen Updates:

  1. Adding three carousels featuring:
    1. Upcoming opportunities with discussion badges
    2. Recent stories Recommended opportunities based on user interests
    3. Opportunities registered by the user's family members
  2. Redesigning the main navigation items for improved usability
